Beyond a day job: side gigs, running a business and hiring staff. What each route needs from you and when it beats staying employed.
Lagos Life Business: Side Hustles, Staff and Bad Days
Once shift income is steady, four routes add more money: gigs you run yourself, a player-to-player Hustle board, a business that settles by the day, and staff who keep cash arriving weekly. Only the first two need almost no capital, all four compete for the same in-game hours and need bars, and all four were hit by the October 2026 money glitch.
| Route | What it is | You pay with | You get back | Main risk |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Solo gigs | Gated, timed actions on the map | Hours, need bars, a little cash | Payout that scales with skill | Eats your shift hours |
| Hustle board | Players post work, you apply | Hours and reputation | The posted fee, held until done | Reviews on a new account |
| Business | Bought once, settles daily | Price plus a daily cost | A daily range, minus bad days | One bad day erases a margin |
| Staff | Five roles hired from the phone | First week, then weekly wages | Chores, meals, security, trips | They leave if payroll fails |
Build the shift first: the jobs and promotions walkthrough covers that ladder, and the income route map ranks every option. Details below come from the official client build on 2026-10-06, which can change in a patch with no version number.
Side gigs: the second income that needs no capital
A gig is an action with a duration: it blocks a slice of the in-game day and moves your need bars while it runs, which is why a side hustle competes with a shift rather than stacking on it.
| Gig | Where | Gate |
|---|---|---|
| Help at the Buka | Mama Bisi's buka | None |
| Buy and Resell Goods | Balogun Market | None |
| Haggle for Ankara | Balogun Market | None |
| Freelance Gig | CcHub, Yaba | Coding 2 |
| Weekend Hackathon | CcHub, Yaba | Coding 3 |
| Paid skit, photo sales | Online | Comedy 3 or Photography 3 |
The buka and the resale run need no skill level. Do them now, bank the cash, then spend it on the gig you cannot start yet.
Payouts track the skill that unlocks them, not repetition: in that build the coding gig, resale run, paid skit and photo sales all scale with that skill level. The online creator jobs need power, so a NEPA cut kills them.
The Hustle board on your phone is the half of side work guides skip. Its own wording: players hire players, decorate a house, DJ a party, drive, cook, and the fee is held safe until the job is done. Every player carries a Hustle rating with stars and reviews; new accounts read as new to Hustle. The board is switched server-side, so a closed board says it opens soon. Check your own phone.

Buying a business: what you are signing up for
A business is a one-time purchase that runs itself, one settlement per in-game day. Three charges ride on it and you cannot opt out: a daily operating cost, a chance of a bad day, and the income tax now sitting on the wider economy. Selling it back returns only a fraction of what you paid.
| Business | Area | What a bad day looks like |
|---|---|---|
| Recharge and Data Kiosk | Ojuelegba | Network down, nobody bought data |
| Zobo and Chapman Stand | Yaba | The ice block man did not show up |
| POS Stand | Yaba | Network down, a transfer did not drop |
| Buka (Mama Put) | Surulere | Gas ran out in the lunch rush |
| Barbing Salon | Ikeja | NEPA took light, the generator packed up |
| Car Wash | Lekki | The borehole pump broke down |
| Event Centre | Ikoyi | A wedding was cancelled, deposit refunded |
| Quilox Share | Victoria Island | The club was shut a night by the task force |
Power, fuel, network and weather are the failure modes the game names; cancelled bookings with refunded deposits cost the most.
We publish no purchase price, daily range, running cost or bad-day probability. The official data endpoints need a login, the game has no public FAQ or patch notes, and two guide sites printed different business figures a day apart.
Hiring staff: five roles on the Saturday payroll
Staff is the one route where cash buys back time, and the five roles hang off your housing and car rather than your balance alone.
| Role | Requirement | What changes |
|---|---|---|
| House help | Out of the starting hostel | Cleaning and ironing handled daily |
| Private chef | A home with a real kitchen | A free meal when you are home and hungry |
| Driver | A car | No fuel to pay, quicker trips |
| Security guard | A home with a gate | Robbers get caught more often |
| Nanny | A baby and a spare bedroom | Your children are fed and played with |
Hiring pays that role's first week up front, and after that the wage lands weekly with the rent on the Saturday cycle. A staff wages line appears on the weekly bill only while you have crew. If the money is not there when payroll runs, the ones you cannot pay pack up and leave, and the same screen warns that a smaller place, or selling the car, can push staff out. So a move is a housing decision and a staffing decision.
The money glitch: why your business may look like it failed
In early October 2026 an exploit let some players mint balances that were never earned, and it hit the economy rather than a few wallets. The player who found it explained it on 5 October: half the leaderboard was doing the same, the economy was inflated beyond sense, and the honest come-up was dead. He credited the developers for locking money to the server, and the creator reset exploited funds and restored legitimate balances.
Leaderboard comparisons are meaningless while that money circulates. The same player observed that people who parked inflated balances into land, businesses and assets before the cleanup kept more of it, so a business funded by honest, slow income can look like the losing side of a trade that never happened. Read the exploit timeline before judging your progress, plus the tax line in income tax today.
The official terms forbid exploiting bugs and say in-game naira has no real-world value and cannot be cashed out. Balances are server-side now, so anything promising a printed fortune is outdated or a scam.
For scale, https://lagoslife.app/api/public-stats reported about 53,600 players online as of 2026-10-06 01:30 UTC — a self-reported instant counter.
When a second route beats the payroll
- Thin balance, need cash today: gigs and the Hustle board.
- Real balance, want daily accrual: one business, carried past its bad days.
- Chores and travel eating your day: staff, starting with house help.
- Chasing the leaderboard: none of them; that board was partly printed money.
Play only on lagoslife.app; we are an independent unofficial guide with no link to the developer. Everything lands against a rent bill that clears every Saturday, so second income only counts if it survives that day. One policy also rotates for everyone weekly: as of 2026-10-06 the official homepage banner read that the owambe season is law this week. Check the official page; the weekly events page tracks what is on.
What we could not verify
The official job endpoint returns 401 without a login, the world endpoint refuses the request, and the guide, FAQ, news and changelog routes all 404. No published source exists for purchase prices, payouts, running costs, bad-day odds or staff wages. We read those values in the client build on 2026-10-06; they can change with no version number and no announcement, so this guide gives mechanics, not figures.
FAQ
Do I need money to start a side hustle in Lagos Life? Not much. Several location gigs need no unlock, and the Hustle board pays without buying anything. The better-paying ones need a skill level or a small upfront cost.
What happens if I cannot pay my staff? The roles you cannot pay pack up and leave, with a message pointing back to the staff screen. Keep a buffer against the Saturday payroll.
Why is my business earning less than the numbers I read online? Usually a bad day, the running cost still being deducted, or honest income measured against a leaderboard that was partly printed money.
